· . #1. Hi all, I am using a 2n transistor for switching a 5V mA 27ohms relay. I calculated that the base resistor should be ohms. Why am I getting approximately V at the relay terminal and not a value close to 5V? V are not enough for switching my relay. This is where power transfers to the LED through extremely fast switching action of the transistor, and was impressed with the performance of the old 2N transistor. It was a general-purpose transistor in a TO package, which looked like a metal can. I remember using it to drive LEDs and relays back when I was a whippersnapper. Driver Transistor. · The 2N is a general purpose bipolar junction NPN transistor. It is commonly used for low power amplifying or switching. This transistor is actually designed for low as well as medium voltage and current values.
High Low triggered - Opto isolated - BC - 2N driver. 3. 0. EveryCircuit is an easy to use, highly interactive circuit simulator and schematic capture. A 2N is quite a powerful transistor, but is only good up to mA or so. So any motor you use must not consume more than this current when spinning and when stalled, or the transistor may burn. Also, the 2N is rated for 40V maximum, so you can't drive high voltage motors. Here is probably the simplest circuit. Performance I've built the "Bolt light" circuit using 2N and 2N transistors, and measured its performance (raw test data are on a subsequent page).I'm working on a "pretty" writeup, but in the meantime, here are some things to bear in mind if you use this circuit.
NPN Silicon. Features IC. mAdc. Total Device Dissipation @ TA = 25°C. Derate above 25°C (IC = 20 mAdc, VCE = 20 Vdc, f = MHz)C. 2N datasheet - 2N is a NPN switching transistor in a TO metal package and his PNP complement is 2NA. 2N datasheet applications: linear. Tutorial contains 2N Transistor Pinout diagram, Pin configuration descrption, Example Circuits, motor control circuit example 2n npn transistor.
